Dear Sir/Madam:

We, the undersigned, are writing to express our strongest concern over the deportation of four Iranian student dissidents from Turkey back to Iran within the next 24 hours.
These students were jailed and tortured in Iran because of their political activism. They were able to escape from Iran and entered Turkey without sufficient documents to save their lives.
They are:

- Mr. Ali Reza Ranjbar
- Mr. Seyed Ali Alemzadeh
- Mr. Mojtaba Vatanpour Naderani
- Mr. Abolfazl Ajorlou

We fear for the lives of these four individuals given the Islamic Republic�s record of egregious human rights abuses. They will face persecution, torture, and possibly death if returned to Iran.
We urge the UNHCR to intervene appropriately and to stop the deportation process by the Turkish police. Thank you in advance. Your kindness and compassion will be greatly appreciated by the Iranian community.

International Short Film Festival: Films by Iranians/Films About Iran

The International Short Film Festival is an independent and non-political festival that aims to nourish and facilitate the greater exchange of ideas, information, awareness, and consciousness of the fact that art and culture can develop, not only among Iranian youth, but also between non-Iranians who deal with Iranian culture in their films all over the world.

The festival accepts films of 30 minutes and under, and will dispense awards totaling ten thousand dollars.

جشنواره بین المللی فیلم کوتاه (فیلم های ایرانی/ فیلم هایی دربارۀ ایران در نیویورک - اکتبر2007

هدف ازتأسیس این جشنواره کمک به بهترشناخته شدن و بالندگی فرهنگ و هنرایران درسراسرجهان است وهیچ هدف تجاری و سیاسی رادنبال نمی کند. برنامه سال اول جشنواره ازپنج قسمت تشکیل شده است :

(1) مسابقه
(2) مروری بر آثارکامران شیردل ازایران
(پنج فیلم کوتاه)،
(3) چشم انداز: شامل نمایش 7 فیلم کوتاه از خانواده مخملباف (محسن، سمیرا، حنا ومرضیه مشکینی)
(4) ویژه : بهترین فیلم های کوتاه افغانستان وتاجیکستان،
(5) اطلاعات : نمایش بهترین فیلم های کوتاه
(کارگردان ایرانی / فیلم دربارۀ ایران) که درجشنواره های بین المللی موفق بوده اند.

جشنوارۀ ویژه فیلم های کوتاه، کمتراز30 دقیقه، بیش ازده هزاردلارجایزه نقدی به برندگان وشرکت کنندگان اهدا خواهد کرد.

Iran führt Meldepflicht für Blogger ein

Iranische Blogger und Betreiber von Webseiten müssen sich binnen zwei Monaten bei der iranischen Regierung registrieren lassen.

Laut "Präsident"-Ahmadinedschad sei dies ein wichtiger Schritt, um "religiöse und kulturelle Werte zu bewahren und zivile wie legale Verantwortlichkeiten zu schaffen". Welche Konsequenzen eine Weigerung gegen die Meldepflicht hat, ist nicht bekannt.

Iran verbietet schnelle Internetzugänge.

Im Oktober hatten die iranischen Behörden die Geschwindigkeit der Internetzugänge des Landes auf 128 KBit/s drosseln lassen. Die herrschenden Mullahs "wollen" damit die "kulturelle Invasion" aus dem Westen abwehren!
