Atom-Ultimatum an Teheran läuft ab

Nur Stunden vor Ablauf eines UN-Ultimatums hat der iranische Präsident Mahmud Ahmadinedschad seine unbeugsame Haltung im Atomstreit bekräftigt: "Die Welt soll wissen, dass der Iran sich keinem Druck beugen und sich nicht von seinem international verbrieften nuklearen Rechten abbringen lassen wird".

Das sagte Ahmadinedschad in einer vom Fernsehen übertragenen Rede. Frankreich hofft allerdings "bis zum letzten Moment" auf eine positive Antwort aus Teheran. Das sagte Außenminister Philippe Douste-Blazy am Donnerstag. "In jedem Fall hoffen wir, dass es einen Dialog geben wird", fügte der Minister an, "denn Frankreich wünscht einen Dialog auch mit den Iranern."

Im Atomstreit mit dem Iran läuft an diesem Donnerstag das Ultimatum des Weltsicherheitsrats zur Einstellung der Urananreicherung ab. Die iranische Regierung hat bereits klargemacht, dass sie der Aufforderung nicht nachkommen wird. Für diesen Fall hat der Sicherheitsrat die Absicht bekundet, diplomatische und wirtschaftliche, nicht aber militärische Sanktionen zu verhängen.

Der Sicherheitsrat hatte dem Iran bis zum 31. August Zeit gegeben, alle Auflagen der Internationalen Atomenergie-Organisation (IAEO) zu erfüllen und damit den Verdacht auszuräumen, dass er Atombomben bauen will.

Die USA sprachen sich dafür aus, so schnell wie möglich mit der Diskussion über Sanktionen des Weltsicherheitsrates gegen den Iran zu beginnen, falls die Führung in Teheran nicht doch noch in letzter Minute im Atomstreit einlenken sollte. Bereits die erste Resolution müsse ein beachtliches Signal an den Iran senden, dass es sich um eine ernsthafte Sache handele, sagte Außenamtssprecher Sean McCormack am Mittwoch in Washington. Danach müsse der Druck auf die Führung in Teheran Schritt für Schritt erhöht werden.

US-Staatssekretär Nicholas Burns werde bereits Anfang kommender Woche zu Gesprächen nach Europa reisen, sagte McCormack. Nach Angaben eines hochrangigen Mitarbeiters des US-Außenministeriums sollen nach ersten Planungen am Donnerstag kommender Woche Vertreter der fünf Vetomächte im UN-Sicherheitsrat und Deutschlands in Berlin zu Konsultationen zusammentreffen.

Iran provoziert die Vereinten Nationen

Drei Tage vor Ablauf des UN-Ultimatums hat der iranische Präsident Mahmud Ahmadinedschad die vom Weltsicherheitsrat geforderte Einstellung der umstrittenen Urananreicherung abgelehnt.

"Wir werden uns Drohungen und Ultimaten nicht beugen", sagte Ahmadinedschad in Teheran. Zu den von den Vereinten Nationen angedrohten Sanktionen, sollte Teheran seine Urananreicherung nicht bis zum 31. August einstellen, erklärte Ahmadinedschad: "Ein Land, das in der Lage ist, seinen eigenen atomarer Brennstoff herzustellen, kann auch Sanktionen bewältigen."

Er warf den USA und Großbritannien vor, die Vereinten Nationen zu instrumentalisieren, um der Welt ihren Willen aufzuzwingen. "Wir werden es einigen wenigen Ländern nicht erlauben, sich als Repräsentanten der Welt aufzuspielen, und uns unseres legitimen Rechtes zu berauben", fuhr der Präsident fort.

Auf die Frage, was er tun würde, falls UN-Generalsekretär Kofi Annan ihn direkt auffordern würde, die Urananreicherung einzustellen, sagte Ahmadinedschad: "Unsere Position ist ganz klar, auch Herr Annan weiß, dass er nicht etwas fordern kann, was jenseits der international anerkannten Regeln steht." Der Präsident bezog sich auf den Atomwaffensperrvertrag, der jedem Unterzeichnerland die zivile Nutzung der Atomtechnologie gewährt.

"Wir haben dem Westen unsere Antwort auf das Vorschlagpaket bereits ausführlich und transparent vorgelegt, und wir hoffen dass der Westen unser Angebot zu Verhandlungen annimmt und diese einzigartige Chance wahrnimmt", sagte der Präsident weiter. Falls es aber zu Sanktionen seitens der UN kommen sollte, "dann wird Iran dementsprechend handeln", erklärte er. "Wir werden über Sanktionen nicht froh sein, aber wir machen uns auch keine Sorgen, da wir in der Lage sind, unser Rechte zu verteidigen, und wir sind auf alle möglichen Szenarien vorbereitet."

Das höchste UN-Gremium hat die Regierung in Teheran ultimativ aufgerufen, bis zum Monatsende die Urananreicherung auszusetzen. Im Gegenzug hatten die fünf ständigen Mitglieder des UN-Sicherheitsrats und Deutschland dem Iran wirtschaftliche und technische Vorteile der westlichen Staatengemeinschaft angeboten. Im Falle einer Ablehnung hatten die UN mit Sanktionen gedroht.

Zu Beginn seiner Rede hatte Ahmadinedschad US-Präsident George W. Bush zu einer Fernsehdebatte aufgefordert. "Ich lade Mr. Bush zu einer Fernsehdebatte ein, um über die Entwicklungen in der Welt zu reden. Voraussetzung ist, dass es keine Zensur gibt", sagte Ahmadinedschad.

Grave fears are held for the welfare of Iranian human rights campaigner, Keyvan Rafiee, since he was arrested by Iranian security forces in IRAN and he is 40 days in 209 sell Evin jail.
Rafiee was well-known both inside and outside Iran for defending human rights, in particular the rights of workers and women.
His web site provided much information to the outside world about human rights abuses inside Iran. Most recently he had reported on the student demonstrations that have taken place over the last few years. Just the latest of a number of activists and human rights’
Campaigners that have been detained by the Iranian authorities. A number of student activists have also disappeared or are being held in prison in Iran as the government cracks down on the pro-democracy movement.

The security and intelligence forces of the tyrannical and despotic government of the Islamic Republic placed the naked body of my son in a estate car in a very inappropriate conditions and threatened us that they would return Akbar’s body to Tehran, would bury him secretly and would not inform us of his burial location, if we were to hold a funeral procession or to cause any disturbance. They also threatened us that they would not give leave of absence to Manouchehr if we did not agree to their conditions. Mr. Saeed Ahrafpour, Akbar’s uncle, who was present when Akbar was receiving ablution and being shrouded for burial, has stated the following:

His eyes and mouth were open. His forehead had swollen and his teeth were projecting out of his mouth. His skull was broken. They had cut up from below his throat down to his stomach and then sewed it up. The same had been done to Akbar’s back. His shoulder blade, arm, back, shoulder and soles were blue, his stomach had drawn in and his ribs projected outwards. When he was being washed, blood spurted from the back of his head and inside his ear and we had to use cotton wool. His fingers had contracted inwards. There were bruises around his wrists and his ankles and there was a blue circle around his eyes.

Akbar weighed 95 kilos before his hunger strike, but his weight had fallen to about 45 kilos afterwards. I, my wife and our other relatives and associates saw Akbar’s body in the above-described state at the time of burial. The body did not resemble Akbar, as though they had used heavy makeup before transferring him to Amol (to reduce the signs of torture). Akbar’s body was in such an inappropriate conditions that when his other uncle, Alireza Ashrafpour, went in to see him, the forensic doctor sent out the intelligence agents and told him: you can file complaints without any worries and fear.

In conclusion we ask all the human rights organisations and institutions [to help with?] the disinterment of Akbar’s body and the conducting of an autopsy on him to determine the cause of his death.

Another Prisoner of Conscience Died in Prison in Iran
Name: Akbar Mohammadi

We are writing to inform you that yet another innocent human being has died in Iran under the Islamic Republic╝s watch. His crime was to practice his right to assemble, as stated in the Article 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

On Sunday July 30, the sad news came that Akbar Mohammadi, a leading student dissident, has died in prison. Akbar and his brother Manouchehr were arrested shortly after the July 1999 student demonstration. He was initially sentenced to death but later his sentence was commuted to 15 years imprisonment.

Held in notorious Evin prison, it is reported that he was on hunger strike since July 25, 2006, and prior to his death was taken to the prison hospital but was denied any medical attention. To add to this crime, the authorities of the Ministry of Intelligence arrested his elder parents, upon their return from Turkey where they had gone to visit their other son.

Honorable Secretary General,

While all attentions have been focused on the Iranian Nuclear program, the Islamic Republic of Iran continues its horrific violations of human rights. This is the third publicly admitted death in custody under the Iranian judicial system in recent years. Two years ago a Canadian Journalist Zahra Kazemi was also found dead after being allegedly beaten by prison interrogators. As we write this appeal many other dissidents and prisoners of conscience are in detention and we are very concerned about their life; people like Manouchehr Mohammadi, Ahmad Batebi, Nasser Zarafshan, Heshmatollah Tabarzadi, Mansour Osanlou, Akbar Mosavi Khoeini, and Ramin Jahanbegloo just to name a few.

We are appealing to you because we expect you to take action and send a delegation to visit the prisons in Iran and demand the Islamic Republic of Iran to release all the prisoners of conscience it is holding.

My Dear Compatriots,

Seven long and terrible years of torture, abuse and maltreatment, tragically ended yesterday for our courageous compatriot, Akbar Mohammadi, with his murder at the hands of his jailers, who carried out the execution order issued by the security apparatus of the criminal clerical regime.

Akbar Mohammadi was a prominent student dissident and among the most courageous and important symbols of constitutional monarchists, who, in spite of the deafening silence of many among our opposition and diaspora, bravely endured untold sacrifices, spearheading our struggle against the evil autocracy called the Islamic Republic.

Akbar?s name will forever be inscribed in the annals of our history, highlighting our people?s struggle in general, and that of the students? movement in particular. His courage, dedication and ultimate sacrifice will serve as a beacon lighting our way in our fight for liberty!

I share the grief of this tragic loss with his family and offer my heartfelt condolences to my compatriots, in particular to all his peers and friends in Iran and around the world.

May his soul rest in peace, while we continue where he left us!

نهم امرداد ماه ۱۳۸۵

هم میهنان عزیزم،
پـس از هفـت سال شکنجـه و شـلاق، سرانجـام دانشجـوی دلیـرومقـاوم، اکبرمحمـدی، توسط رژیم جنون و جنایتِ جمهوری اسلامی بقتل رسید و بدین ترتیب: حکم اعدام وی – پس از هفت سال – توسط جانیان و زندانبانان جمهوری اسلامی بمرحلۀ اجرا درآمد.
اکبرمحمدی، نمونـۀ برجستـه ای از دانشجویـان مشروطه خواهـی بود که علیرغـم سکوت سنگین اپوزیسیــون و بی توجه بـه عافیت طلبـی ها و عاقبت انــدیشی ها، قهرمانــانــه، پرچــم مبارزه و مقاومت در برابر استبداد سیاه حاکم را بردوش کشید.
نام و خاطــرۀ اکبرمحمــدی، در تاریــخ جنبش آزادیخواهی مردم ایــران – عموماً – و در تاریخ جنبش دانشجــویــی – خصوصــا – همــواره جاویــدان خواهــد مانــد و آزاد اندیشــی و شجاعت بی نظیروی، بی تردید، چراغ راه همۀ مبارزان راه آزادی ایران خواهد بود.

Bislang knapp 6000 deutsche Libanon-Flüchtlinge evakuiert

Angesichts der unverminderten militärischen Auseinandersetzungen im Libanon werden weiterhin auch deutsche Staatsbürger aus dem Krisengebiet evakuiert. Am Mittwochabend sollte eine verletzte sechsköpfige Familie von Zypern aus nach Deutschland geflogen werden, sagte eine Sprecherin des Auswärtigen Amtes auf ddp-Anfrage. Die Familie habe bereits am Montagabend per Schiff vom Hafen Tyros aus den Libanon verlassen. Auf Zypern seien die Flüchtlinge von einem deutschen Arzt auf ihre Reisefähigkeit untersucht worden.

Nach Angaben des Auswärtigen Amtes wurden seit Beginn des Konfliktes etwa 5800 deutsche Staatsbürger mit Hilfe der Bundesregierung aus dem Libanon in Sicherheit gebracht. Der überwiegende Teil sei über Drittstatten wie die Türkei, Zypern, Syrien oder Jordanien nach Deutschland gebracht worden. Bislang seien 24 Sonderflüge der Bundeswehr und vom Auswärtigen Amt gecharterte Zivilflüge organisiert worden.

Zehn Todesurteile wegen Anschlägen im iranischen Ahwas

Ein iranisches Revolutionsgericht hat am Dienstag zehn Angeklagte wegen eines Doppelanschlags in der Stadt Ahwas zum Tode verurteilt. Die Männer würden wegen "Kriegs gegen Gott und Handlungen gegen die nationale Sicherheit" öffentlich gehängt, entschied das Gericht laut iranischen Medienberichten. Acht weitere Angeklagte wurden zu Gefängnisstrafen zwischen fünf und 20 Jahren verurteilt, einer wurde begnadigt. Die Verurteilten haben 20 Tage Zeit, um Berufung einzulegen. Sollte das Berufungsgericht die Todesstrafen bestätigen, muss noch das Oberste Gericht zustimmen.

Am 24. Januar waren bei zwei Bombenanschlägen in Ahwas in der südiranischen Provinz Chusistan acht Menschen getötet worden, 45 weitere wurden verletzt. In Ahwas war ein Besuch von Präsident Mahmud Ahmadinedschad geplant gewesen, der im letzten Moment abgesagt wurde. Die iranischen Behörden beschuldigten Großbritannien, das im nahen Südirak Truppen stationiert hat, die Attentäter unterstützt zu haben.

We, the undersigned, who are fighting for achieving democracy in our country, would like to have your attention for the following serious matter:

Recently, you accepted Mr. Saeed Mortazavi (a government prosecutor widely known to have sanctioned the torture and the execution of political prisoners)as a part of Iranian delegation to the UN's new Human Rights Council.

Saeed Mortazavi is responsible for the custody and interrogation of many prominent Iranian political prisoners.Among them the canadian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi of Montreal, who died while in prison in Iran, of wounds suffered at the hands of her jailers.

At first, the news about the creation of United Nations' new Human Rights Council offered us a new hope. That finally you are doing something to help those Iranians who are seeing their basic human rights shattered to pieces everyday by the despotic regime of Ayatollahs in Iran. That finally you will support Iranian people in their fight for having freedom in their country.

But unfortunately, our hope for a change was destroyed by the fact that you accepted a torturer and a grand human rights abuser as a part of Iranian delegation for the opening ceremony of UN's new Human Right Council.

Dear Mr. Secretary!

This is a totally shameful incident that has to be addressed by you appropriately otherwise the credibility of the new Human Rights Council will be in a serious doubt.

Please give us an explanation on how something like this can happen and how a number one enemy of human rights in Iran can be accepted as a part of UN's new Human Right Council meetings.

We the undersigned, urge you to give us an official and acceptable explanation. Until such a time comes,we will not stop our activities and will remember this bitter incident as lively as possible.
